Hurt……….Rachel Louise Barbour Shelton, age 81 of Hurt died Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at her residence.

Born February 26, 1940 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Alvin Casper Barbour and Emma Gladys Haskins Barbour.  She was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Oliver Shelton; one grandson, Drew Farmer; one brother, Clyde Barbour; and a special friend, Roger Butler.  Mrs. Shelton was a member of Edge Hill Baptist Church and she was a home maker.  She enjoyed working puzzles, watching birds, gardening, flowers, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three sons, Ricky Shelton of Hurt, Keith Shelton of Hurt, and Kevin Shelton of Hurt; two daughters, Sherri Moon and husband, Eddie of Long Island, and Karen Hamlett and husband, Stewart of Hurt; two brothers, Paul Barbour and wife, Helen of Gretna, and Jerry Barbour and wife, Ruby of Gretna; one sister, Lisa Ewing of Altavista; 11 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 21, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Josh Crews and Eddie Moon.  Burial will take place at a later date at Altavista Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
