Gretna……..Louis Adkins, age 79 of Gretna died Thursday, May 19, 2016 at his residence.
Born July 28, 1936 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Oscar Buster Adkins and Helen Parker Adkins. He was predeceased by a great-grandson, Jasper Cook. Mr. Adkins was a former employee of the Lane Company. He enjoyed gardening, blue grass music and visiting the Smoky Mountains.
He is survived by his wife, Ola Marie Barbour Adkins of the residence; one son, David Adkins and wife, Betty of Chatham; two daughters, Patti Marie Adkins of Hurt and Debra Ferrell of Gretna; one brother, Joe Adkins and wife, Dianne of Chatham; two sisters, Ruby "Jane" Adams of Gretna and Lucille McQueen of Chatham; one grandchild, Melody Cook and husband, Robby; and two great-grandchildren, Kaspian Cook and Riggins Cook.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, May 20, 2016 at Colbert Moran Funeral Home.
A private burial will take place at a later date.
