Hurt……Lonnie Carroll Dawson, age 72 of Hurt died Monday, October 9, 2023 at his residence.

Born May 21, 1951 in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Henry Wilson Dawson and Annie Watson Dawson.  He was predeceased by one brother, Abb Dawson; and three sisters, Barbara Wade, Dollie Berrier, and Marie Leonard.  Mr. Dawson was a member of the First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Altavista and he retired from Abbott Laboratories.  He enjoyed working on lawn mowers.

He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Doss Dawson of Gretna; two sons, Kenneth Dawson of Hurt, and Kevin Dawson (Lee) of South Carolina; two brothers, Charlie Dawson (Linda) of Lexington, and Lynn Dawson (Lisa) of Hurt; one sister, Martha Shelton of Hurt; and two grandchildren, Gramme Dawson, and Davis Dawson.

Memorial services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Friday, October 27, 2023 at the First Pentecostal Holiness Church Altavista by Rev. Tim Lane.

The family will receive friends at the residence, 6601 Dews Road, Hurt, VA.
