Gretna……Lois Barrett Compton, age 80 of Gretna died Sunday, June 6, 2021 at her residence.

Born February 17, 1941 in Halifax County, she was a daughter of the late Charlie Bennett Barrett and Dolly Lee Thompson Barrett.  She was predeceased by three sons, Roger Compton, Kenneth Compton, and Jimmy Edwards; one daughter, Rita Faye; and two brothers, Hollis Barrett, and Owen Junior Barrett.  Lois was a member of Mulberry Baptist Church and she retired from Sara Lee.  She enjoyed watching movies, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by one son, Leroy Compton of Gretna; one daughter, Frances Padilla of Gretna; one sister, Janie Clay of Gretna; eleven grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R. G. Rowland and Minister Charlie H. Coleman.  Burial will follow in Mulberry Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
