Gretna…..Leslie Otis Chambers, age 69 of Gretna, died Tuesday, December 27, 2011 in the Veterans Medical Center, Durham, NC.
Born June 17, 1942 in Radford, he was a son of the late Otis Caudell Chambers and Mary Andres Brooks Chambers. He was a graduate of Virginia Tech and was a US Air Force veteran. He was a great story teller and enjoyed acting in plays and movies. Mr. Chambers was a farmer and loved any kind of animal. He also enjoyed car racing, fishing, hunting, and VA Tech football.
He is survived by his wife of over 34 years, Barbara Turpin Chambers; four children, Lisa Turman, Brian Fairall, Otis Dale Chambers, and Audra Chambers; two brothers, Tobey Chambers, and Mac Chambers; five grandchildren, Amanda, Nicole, Samantha, Ryan Otis, and Cassidy; and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2011 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor John Pinkston. Burial with Military Honors by the Seymour Johnson Air Force Base Honor Guard will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
