Hurt…….Leona Shercell, age 84 of Hurt died Tuesday, July 15, 2014.
Born February 28, 1930 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Cabell Jacob Davis and Susie Hawkins Davis. She was predeceased by her first husband, Gollie Lee Francis; a son Earl Lawson Francis; a brother, Jr.; four sisters, Sally, Ethel, Mary and Mabel. Mrs. Shercell was a member of First Southern Baptist Church and was a retired employee of Schrader-Bridgeport. She enjoyed gardening, working around the house, cooking and reading.
She is survived by her husband, Joseph Shercell of the residence; one son, Joel Francis and wife, Wanda of Hurt; two daughters, Dixie Creasy of Halifax and Kathy Brooks and her husband, Michael of Gretna; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland and Rev. Bobby Brumfield. Burial will follow in the Altavista Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 A.M. Friday, July 18, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Michael Brooks, 1669 Telegraph Road, Gretna, VA 24557.
