Hurt…….James Leon "Troll" Scruggs, age 73 of Hurt died Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at his residence.

Born September 20, 1948 in Campbell County, he was a son of the late James Arnold Scruggs and Betty West Scruggs.  He was predeceased by two nephews, Kevin Irby and Mark Shotwell.  He was a member of the Altavista Moose Lodge.  Mr. Scruggs played in many bands over his career on the drums, including The Dixie Raiders, which was his favorite.  He also had the honor of playing with Bob Seger once.  One of his happy places was sitting behind his drums playing and the other was sitting in his and his wife, Robin's special campsite fishing.  He fought hard for many years and he stayed strong till the end.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Robin Manuel Scruggs of the residence; one son, Jason Scruggs and wife, Karen of Gretna; one step-son, Chris Lanier of Lynchburg; one sister, Betty Irby; one granddaughter, Briana Graybill; one grandson, Jacob Scruggs; two great-grandchildren, Brian and Taelyn; and his loyal sidekick, Bella.

Memorial services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Altavista Moose Lodge, 3463 Lynch Mill Rd. Altavista.
