Gretna……….Lena Keesee Wilkes, age 81 of 1256 Pittsville Road, Gretna died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg.
Born June 10, 1930 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late William Lundy Keesee and Ruth Pickeral Keesee. She was predeceased by two sisters, Hattie Lassiter and Marie Bandy. She was a member of Piney Fork Baptist Church and a former Deputy Clerk for Pittsylvania County Circuit Court for 37 years. She loved flowers, crossword puzzles, crocheting, and her family, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild.
She is survived by two sons, Danny Wilkes of Dillwyn, and Phillip Wilkes of Gretna; two brothers, Willard Keesee of Roanoke, and Edward (Zeke) Keesee of Gretna; two sisters, Norris Wilkes of Gretna, and Louise Yeatts of Gretna; three grandchildren, David Wilkes, Dixie Wilkes, and Anthony (Tony) Wilkes; five great-grandchildren, Kaydence Wilkes, Chloe Wilkes, Leanna Hiatt, Lani Hodnett, and Laci Hodnett; and one great-great-grandchild, Jordan Hiatt.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, May 26, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, May 25, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
