Gretna……….Lena Walker Toney age 90 of Gretna died Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born September 26, 1924 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Frank Aaron Walker and Essie McClanahan Walker. She was predeceased by her husband, Virgial Woodson Toney and a grandson, Virgial Woodson Toney. Mrs. Toney attended Anderson Memorial United Methodist Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and reading.
She is survived by a son, Woodson Toney and his wife, Dorothy of Moneta; one sister, Ethel Gulick and her husband, Bill of Richmond; one grandson, Samuel Toney and his wife, Martha; three step-grandchildren, Max Owens, Lendy Prillaman, and Sue Ferris; three great-grandchildren, Ruth Toney, Logan Toney, and Nicholas Toney; three sisters-in-law, Maxie Walker, Louise Toney and Elma Lanier; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, November 1, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Sharon Forbes. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 P.M. Friday, October 31, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
