Hurt……….Lena Odessa Shelton, age 86 of Hurt died Thursday, September 11, 2014 at her residence.
Born June 14, 1928 in Franklin County she was a daughter of the late Ollie Lee David and Annie Davis David Rigney. Mrs. Shelton was predeceased by her husband, Lee Shelton; five brothers, Drewry David, Luther Rigney, Alonza Rigney, Oscar Rigney, and Cecil Rigney; and five sisters, Gladys David, Geneva Campbell, Elsie Tuck, Ora Davidson, and Gladys Scott. Mrs. Shelton was a member of Altavista Church of Christ and was a former employee of General Electric for 31 years. She enjoyed her family, cooking, sewing, working in the garden, and helping others.
She is survived by one son, Carroll Shelton and his wife, Rose; one sister, Mamie Brogan; two granddaughters, Susan Foster and her husband Sean, and Amy Gaddy and her husband, Tyler; and two great-granddaughters, Natalie Foster and Alexa Foster.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Altavista Church of Christ by Lory Brafford, Minister, Larry Evans, Minister and Pastor Mark Hopkins. Burial will follow in Liberty Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Carroll and Rose Shelton, 3373 Grit Road, Hurt.
