Hurt..…..Lena Katherine Dalton Irby, age 89 of Hurt died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Riverside Health and Rehab Center in Danville.
Born January 11, 1925 in Halifax County she was a daughter of the late Walter Dalton and Nannie Dove Dalton Bailess. She was predeceased by her husband, Vance Harston Irby; one son, Billy Irby; one daughter, Connie Moore; four brothers, Nick Dalton, Pete Dalton, Marris Dalton and Willard Dalton; and two sisters, Leola Henderson and Patsy Ingram. Mrs. Irby was a member of Christian Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening.
She is survived by three sons, Wayne Irby and his wife, Dottie of Lynch Station, Steve Irby and his wife, Irene of Orlando, FL, and Ronnie Irby and his wife, Pam of Forest; one daughter, Teresa Worsham and her husband, Dennis of Hurt; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Friday, November 28, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Dennis Nichols. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 P.M. Friday, November 28, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the Dementia-Alzheimers Association.
