Leighana Faith Malpass died early Thursday morning, June 15, 2023. She left behind her world - one full of family and friends who have and will continue to have broken hearts, all longing to see her face for one more second. Leighana, born March 16, 2005, was only 18 years old with a seemingly long life ahead of her before this tragic incident took her away from us all.

She will be deeply missed by her parents Charles Wayne and Sarah (Pickrel) Malpass. Leighana was the youngest of five siblings: Beth (Ben) Keesee, Zach (Caroline) Malpass, Laura (Josh) Ferguson, and Noah (Marlee) Malpass. She was a faithful granddaughter to Ella Pickrel, whom she cared about deeply. She was the adoring aunt of nieces Kinley, Ellaree, Virginia, and nephew Liam. Her sweet presence will be missed by her extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Leighana was predeceased by her grandfather Gene Pickrel and her grandmother Arlene Brooks.

She was a loving cat mom to her sweet cat Ember, a lover of all plants, and a lover of nature in general. She enjoyed hikes and great views of God's creation. Leighana was quite simply, a lover of God. Her close friends: Ashley, Tyler, Christina, Audrey and Brooke, just to name a few, were a great strength to her and she defended them fiercely. They loved her as much, if not more than, she loved them. Cameron Waller stood out from them as the love of her life. He was her joy in this world.

Leighana will miss a lot of what many take for granted: a graduation, a prom, attending college and having a child but, she has what everyone should want-God's loving forgiveness and His welcoming grace.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, June 18, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her parents. Funeral Services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 19, 2023 at Cornerstone Church of Christ by Minister Bob Paddock and Pastor Roy Burton. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Burial Park in Chatham.
