Lawrence (Larry) Taylor Hines, Sr.

Wirtz…..Lawrence (Larry) Taylor Hines, Sr., age 84 of Wirtz, died Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at Carillion Franklin Memorial Hospital.
Born July 26, 1928 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Rison Daniel Hines, Sr. and Sallie Johnson Hines. Mr. Hines was predeceased by one brother, Dan Hines, Jr. and one sister, Sarah H. Hubbard. He was a member of West Lake Baptist Church in Moneta, and the Vinton Moose Lodge. Larry was a retired farmer and he enjoyed hunting, gardening, and fishing.
He is survived by two sons, Lawrence Hines and wife, Janice of Chatham, and Bill Hines and wife, Sherry of Danville; one daughter, Laura H. Surber and husband, Larry of Stoneville, NC; two sisters, Neyra Krieger of Havre DE Grace, MD and Alice H. Overbey of Chatham; four grandchildren, Rachel Bowler, Katie Hines, Matthew Hines and Emily Hines; two step-grandchildren, Debra Snow and Jason Snow; and four great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 28, 2012 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Janice Hines, 6137 Anderson Mill Road, Chatham.
A private burial will be held in Gretna Burial Park.
