Altavista…….Lawrence William Doss, age 79 of Altavista died Monday, August 15, 2016 at Avante at Lynchburg Nursing Home.
Born July 31, 1937 in Campbell County he was a son of the late John Vander Doss and Martha Ida Dunkley Doss. He was predeceased by two brothers, Warren Doss and Bud Doss; and two sisters, Lavita Hall and Onida Hughes. Mr. Doss was an Army Veteran of Korea, a member of the Altavista Moose Lodge and retired from Burlington. He enjoyed watching NASCAR and was a New York Yankees fan.
He is survived by one daughter, Denise Doss of Gretna; one sister, Nora Haynes and husband, Bob of Hurt; one brother, Ed Doss and wife, Carrie of Hurt; one granddaughter, Whitney Antolick Wilhelmi and husband, Trenton; a brother-in-law, David Hughes and special friend, Robert Hubbard.
Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 at Green Hill Cemetery by Rev. Charles Butcher.
