Laura Pickeral McMinnis

Gretna……….Laura Pickeral McMinnis, age 93 of 3185 Blue Ridge Drive died Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at her residence.
Born June 28, 1920 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late David Wade Pickeral and Hester McClanahan Pickeral. She was predeceased by her husband, Willie Francis McMinnis; four sisters, Sally Pickeral, Ida Hamlett, Ola Crawley, and Minnie Hedrick; seven brothers, Harry, Turner, Earl, Randolph, Marvin, Arthur, and Willie Pickeral. Mrs McMinnis was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church and was a home maker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, flowers, church and family gatherings She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by-one son, Donnie McMinnis and wife, Sue of Danville; four daughters, Margie Reynolds of Lynch Station, Linda Myers and husband, Donald of Hurt, Gloria Bryant and husband, Donnie of Evington and Deborah Turner and husband, Mickey of Hurt; 9 grandchildren, 2 Step-grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
The family suggests memorials be made to the Greenfield Baptist Church
