Chatham.……Laughton Talmage "Tootie" Rowland, Jr., age 82 of Chatham died Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at his residence.

Born April 25, 1940 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Laughton Talmage Rowland, Sr. and Nora Rowland.  He was predeceased by a brother, R.C. "Boots" Rowland.  Mr. Rowland was a member of Payneton United Methodist Church, an Air Force Veteran, and the former owner/operator of Burnette's Diner in Chatham.  He loved golf and was a member and Club Manager at Cedars Country Club for 17 years.  He also loved playing cards and spending time with his pet companion, "Chico."

He is survived by his wife, Emily "Mickey" Thomas Rowland of the residence; two sons, Anthony Rowland of San Jose, CA, and Talmage Rowland of Chatham; two daughters, Linda VanHaaften and husband, Steve of Mansfield, TX, and JoAnne McFaddin and husband, Dale of Callands; two brothers, Wesley Rowland and wife, Velma of Fredericksburg, and Frank Rowland of Chatham; one sister, Carol Jean Lansaw of Gretna; eight grandchildren, Jaclyn Holle, Mikel Rowland, Cody VanHaaften, Jordan Rowland, Nora Pruett, Lauren VanHaaften, Marykatherine Buchanan, and Charlie Rowland; and three great-grandsons.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25, 2022 at Hillcrest Burial Park by Rev. Betty D. Marshall.  Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.

The family would like to give a special thank you to caregivers, Taneka, Veronica, Carolyn, Pam, and Jessica for their love and support.
