Gretna..….Larry Ramsey Simpson, age 77 of Gretna passed away Friday, August 22, 2025 at Chatham Health and Rehab Center.

Born January 16, 1948 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Taylor Oscar Simpson and Virginia Farris Simpson.  He was predeceased by a son, "Little" Larry R. Simpson II; two sisters, Sandra Yeatts and Hula Davis; and two brothers, Junior Simpson and David Simpson.  Mr. Simpson was a U.S. Army Veteran and a former superintendent with Blair Construction.  He enjoyed construction work, playing horseshoes, hunting, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by two daughters, Laura Tyree and husband, "Skeeter" of Evington and Wendy Crawley and husband, Johnny of Altavista; one son, Kevin Short and wife, Crystal of Gretna; two sisters, Elma Elixson of Yanceyville, NC and Debra Simpson Barbour of Gretna; seven grandchildren, Jenny, Robbie, Haley, Waylon, Lydia, Jake and David; and a great-granddaughter, Maddie.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jason Andrews.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the residence, 2193 Zion Road, Gretna.
