Altavista………Larry "Slug" Roger Lambert, Sr., age 79 of Altavista died Friday, July 7, 2023 at Gretna Health and Rehab.

Born June 21, 1944 in Campbell County, he was a son of the late Marco Ellis Lambert and Lucille Robertson Lambert. He was predeceased by his wife, Faye Roberts Lambert; two brothers, Baxton Neal Lambert and James Lambert; two sisters-in-law, Anne Lambert and Mary Lambert; and two brothers-in-law, Jerry Kelly, Sr. and Dean Ward. Mr. Lambert was a member of Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church and worked in construction for many years. Larry enjoyed playing golf and fishing, but most of all, he loved scrapping junk.

He is survived by two sons, Roger Lambert and wife, Danele of Altavista and Jason Lambert and wife, Kathy of Altavista; one daughter, Leslie Lambert and significant other, Max Doss of Lynchburg; three sisters, Patricia Kelly of Altavista, Wanda Ward of Gretna and Sandra Delappe and husband, Dwaine of Motley; four brothers, Ronnie Lambert and wife, Phyllis of Altavista, Chester Lambert of Rustburg, Wayne Lambert and wife, Carol of Hurt and Mike Lambert and wife, Molly of Hurt; special sister-in-law, Pat Lambert of Altavista; seven grandchildren, Casey, Jenna Jacob, Tyler, Kayla, MaKenzie and Ivan; two great-grandchildren, Kolton and Waylon; and special friends, Terry St. Claire, Alice Canada and friends of Riverview Court in Altavista.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church by Rev. Bobby Brumfield, Rev. Brad Hendrix and Pastor Matt Gaston. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2023 at Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church and other times will be at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Jason and Kathy Lambert, 1313 5th Street, Altavista.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial donations be made to Bethel Pentecostal Holiness Church, 2635 Tabor Rd. Gladys, Virginia 24554.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Gretna Health and Rehab for all the love and care they provided.
