Larry Wright Conner, 78 of Gretna, VA passed peacefully on March 9, 2022 in Lynchburg General Hospital.

He was born January 10, 1944 in Lynchburg, VA.  He was the son of the late Samuel L. Conner and Louise C. Conner.  He was predeceased by a brother, Ralph Conner; a sister, Patricia Yeatts; and a grandson, Robbie Betterton.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Shumate Conner; three children, Tammy Betterton (Jordan), Donna Dickson (Kelley), and George Bondurant (Annalee); a son-in-law, Larry Betterton; and two nephews, Mike Yeatts, and Chris Yeatts.

He lived a life of service starting with his time in the U.S. Air Force and then onto work as a police officer for the Town of Altavista and the Pittsylvania County Sheriff's Department.  His next service was being a loved and devoted grandfather to his eight grandchildren, Joanie, Jennifer, Malorie, Danielle, Jacob, Jordan, and Grace; and nine great-grandchildren.

Per his request there will be no public service.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Gretna Fire and Rescue, P.O. Box 14, Gretna, VA 24557.
