Richmond….Kittie F. Shelton, age 82 of Richmond, Virginia died Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born August 20, 1940, in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Claude Swanson (Swannie) Shelton and Ruth Haley Shelton. She was predeceased by one brother, Haley Shelton; and three sisters, Margie Shelton, Patsy S. Cundiff, and Dolly S. Clingempeel. While Kittie had no children of her own, she considered her many rescue animals over the years her four-legged kids and was a caring and loving parent.

In her younger years, you would find Kittie riding her motorcycle on weekends and attending bike week in Daytona Beach, FL. You might say she marched to the beat of her own drum. Most of her years were spent living in the Fan District of Richmond enjoying the many restaurants and music venues that lined the streets. Known by all her neighbors, one would often find her at Joe's Inn on the weekends ordering her favorite pineapple pizza. Kittie enjoyed spending time with friends and family, thrift store shopping, watching TV, coloring, and dining out. Over the years Kittie held various jobs but found her passion working for car dealerships driving customers to where they needed to go. The patrons loved being entertained by the many stories she would share. She did so until the young age of 74.

She is survived by one brother, Sammy Shelton and wife, Gloria of Gretna; and numerous nieces and nephews. Kittie will be greatly missed.

A private graveside service for family only will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 16, 2022, at Gretna Burial Park by Lisa S. Haertel.
