Gretna……….Kenneth Wayne Midkiff, age 77 of Gretna died Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at his residence.
Born October 2, 1937 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late Herbert Edd Midkiff and Nannie Lee Rowland Midkiff. He was predeceased by two sisters, Joyce M. Rigney and Margie Sue Midkiff. Mr. Midkiff was a member of the First Baptist Church of Gretna but he called Greenfield Baptist Church his home. He lived his entire life in the Gretna area and retired after 33 years of service from the Virginia Department of Transportation. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.
Mr. Midkiff is survived by his wife of 37 years, Margaret Midkiff Wilson Midkiff of the residence; one son, Daniel W. Midkiff and his special friend, Tracy Hepler of Gretna; three step-sons, William "Billy" C. Wilson and his special friend, Michael Moss of Danville, Jon. T. (Debbie) Wilson of Hurt and James "Jamie" M. Wilson; two step-daughters, Robin W. (Earl) Taylor of Hurt and Melanie W. (Wade) Quarles of Gretna; and two brothers, Sterling P. Midkiff, Sr. and his special friend Tillie Murphy of Danville and Rodger L. (Gloria) Midkiff of Gretna; seven grandchildren and 4 and a half great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 13, 2015 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, June 12, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence
