Hurt………Kenneth Wayne Dowdy, age 76 of Hurt died Thursday, June 15, 2023 at his residence.

Born May 22, 1947 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late Reaves Aldridge Dowdy, Sr. and Minnie Farmer Dowdy.  He was predeceased by a son, Toby Wayne Dowdy; a daughter, Deborah Howell; and five brothers, Jay Dowdy, PeeWee Dowdy, Will Dowdy, Bud Dowdy and Arnold Dowdy.  Mr. Dowdy retired from VDOT.  He loved being outdoors and enjoyed dancing and going to the Moose Lodge.

He is survived by two sons, David Dowdy and wife, Gwen of Gretna and Byron Dowdy and wife, Jennifer of Altavista; and five grandchildren, Nolan Howell, Wyatt Howell, Gabe Dowdy, Matt Dowdy, and Elizabeth Dowdy.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 19, 2023 at Altavista Memorial Park by Rev. Bobby Brumfield.
