Gretna…..Jennie Katie Keatts, age 85 of Gretna died Sunday, January 11, 2015 at Autumn Care Nursing and Rehab in Altavista.
Born November 14, 1929 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Luther Irby and Annie Dalton Irby. Mrs. Keatts was predeceased by two great-grandchildren, Casey Bigelow and Anthony Owens; three brothers, Eugene Irby, William Irby, Sr. and Calvin Irby; and three sisters, Sarah Dejarnette, Beatrice Vedder and Bessie Simpson. Mrs. Keatts retired from the Lane Company and she enjoyed her chickens, cooking and gardening.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Junior Keatts; two sons, Raymond E. Robertson and his wife, Brenda of Pittsville and Albert C. (Pete) Robertson and his wife, Dale of Gretna; two daughters, Annie R. Wade of Hurt and Dottie R. Wood and her husband, John of Altavista; three sisters, Dottie Francis of Altavista, Louella Robertson of Hurt and Kathleen Dalton of Gretna; five grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at the Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Jason Andrews. Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
The family will receive friends 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, January 12, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her daughter, Annie R. Wade, 605 Easome Road, Hurt.
