Hurt…..Kathy Gregory Bates, age 59 of Hurt died Monday, November 2, 2015 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born April 18, 1956 in Lynchburg she was a daughter of the late John Averett Gregory and Ruby High Gregory. She was predeceased by her husband, Buford Bates; a brother, John Wayne Gregory, her fiancé, James Waller and a step-daughter, Laura B. Johnston. Mrs. Bates was a faithful member of Gospel Light Baptist Church and was a former employee of the Lane Company. She enjoyed crafts, flowers, gardening, canning and yard work.
She is survived by one sister, Darlene Owens and her husband, Sam of Gretna; one step-son, Buford Bates, Jr. and his wife, Terri of Ringgold; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Scott Dean and Rev. Bobby Brumfield. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 3, 2015 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her sister and brother-in-law, Darlene and Sam Owens, 340 Scruggs Way Terrace, Gretna.
