Lynchburg……….Katherine Taylor "Kitty" Petty, age 83 of Lynchburg died Sunday, May 28, 2017 at Lynchburg General Hospital.
Born November 24, 1933 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Eugene Taylor and Lou Jane Andrews Taylor. She was predeceased by one brother, Charles Taylor and two sisters, Ann Love and Rebecca Snow. Katherine was a retired Registered Nurse and served as a nursing supervisor at both Centra Lynchburg General Hospital and Guggenheimer Nursing Home. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church; and enjoyed cooking, sewing, quilting, traveling, watching TV and taking care of her family and friends.
She is survived by one son, John Petty and wife, Dannette of Evington; one daughter, Jane Petty of Atlanta, GA; two brothers, Edward Taylor and wife, Norma of Gretna and Ramsey Taylor and wife, Barbara of Gretna; one sister, Edna Agnes Taylor of Lynchburg; four grandchildren, Johanna Bellovich and husband, Dave, Kristin Hicks and husband, Greg, Cody McCulloch and fiancée, Rachel, and Cara Petty; and seven great-grandchildren, Sydney, Lucas, Claire, Kayleigh, Easton, Addison, and Tanner.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Zion United Methodist Church by Pastor David Edinger and Rev. Bruce Yoder. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2017 at Zion United Methodist Church.
