Julian "Jay"
Bordes
Dec 8, 1951 — Jun 13, 2019
Pawleys Island, SC……..Julian "Jay" Bordes, age 67 of Pawleys Island, SC died Thursday, June 13, 2019 at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Born Dec 8, 1951 in Dayton, KY, he was a son of the late John Burgin Bordes from MI and the late Evelyn Kelly McDonald of Eminence, KY. He was predeceased by a sister, Linda Goins from Eminence, KY.
Julian lived most of his life in Louisville and Eminence KY. He served in the Army during the Vietnam war. After an honorable discharge he worked for Orkin Pest Control based in Atlanta, GA for 30 plus years and then went on to own an eight-county Orkin franchise in Alabama. Jay also bought and managed commercial property which included the Tavern of St. Clair.
He and his wife Cindy retired and moved to Pawleys Island in 2015. Jay was an avid Kentucky Wildcat fan, while his wife Cindy was a born and bred UNC Tar Heel. They enjoyed their seasonal rivalry for 22 years! Jay played golf, loved to fish and was a grill master like no other, winning in Wildlife cook off events. Jay also loved to gamble and would bet on even daily mundane things whether he thought he would win or not. This included being a member of his Willbrook Plantation poker gang. His vivacious personality was addicting, he had a way of getting folks to crack a grin or go into a full-blown belly laugh. Jay and Cindy loved English Bulldogs and Honey Bea will miss her "dah-dah" very much. He was extremely proud of his children and their professional endeavors.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Byrd Bordes, of Pawleys Island, SC; one daughter, Hayley Bordes of Franklin, TN; one son, Joshua Bordes of Seattle, WA; three grandchildren, Jackson, Ethan, and Presley Bordes; niece, Dawn Moore; and cousins from Kentucky and New Jersey; plus special "just like" family members Dwayne and Diana Hazel, Levi and Cookie Schmidt, and Noelle and Brian Boyd.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, June 17, 2019 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. R.G. Rowland and Brian Irwin. Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
