Gretna………Julia "Judy" Shelton Underwood, age 82 of Gretna died Friday, March 8, 2024 at Centra Gretna Medical Center.

Born December 19, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Jenks Dewitt Shelton and Julia Eloise Simpson Shelton.  She was predeceased by her husband, Larry Wayne Underwood; one brother, Don Shelton; and an infant sister, Trudy Ann Shelton.  Mrs. Underwood was a member of Midway Baptist Church and she retired from the Farm Bureau of Bedford County.  She loved her family, especially her grandchildren; and enjoyed reading her Bible, and sitting on the porch.

She is survived by one son, Jared Underwood and wife, Katie of Hurt; two brothers, Ricky Shelton and wife, Bettye of Hurt, and Ronnie Shelton and wife, Regina of Hurt; one sister, "Cacky" Guill of Deltaville; two grandchildren, Hayden and Claire; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery by Rev. Lynn Marstin and Lee Ashley, Minister.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Jared and Katie Underwood, 219 Grove Street, Hurt.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
