Judy Mae Rice Mayhew, age 83, of Hurt died, Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Lynchburg General Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born May 29, 1941 to the late, William Alexander Rice, Sr. and Annie Marie Lambert Rice. She was predeceased by two brothers, William Alexander Rice, Jr. and Luther Fred Rice; and one sister-in-law, Helen Rice. Judy retired from Abbott Laboratories . She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church. Judy loved to shop, spend time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren and would never turn down a trip to the beach.

She is survived by two sons, Billy Mayhew and wife, Rhonda of Rustburg, Kenny Mayhew and wife, Lisa of Gretna; two daughters, Toni Davis and husband, Mark of Gretna, Tammy Trent and husband, Gary of Hurt; one sister, Barbara Rice Clay; one sister-in-law, Joyce Rice; five grandchildren, Starr Boley and husband Andy, Hannah Davis, Erin Mayhew, Darin Trent and Wyatt Trent; and two great grandchildren, Ethan Boley and Olivia Boley.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 7, 2025 at First Southern Baptist Church in Hurt by Pastor Sam Knaus and Rev. Bobby Brumfield.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.
