Gretna……Judy Ruth Edwards, age 77 of Gretna died Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born January 7, 1947 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Thomas "Tommie" George Edwards and Ruth Inge Edwards.  She was predeceased by one brother, Donald Edwards.  Judy was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist Church and worked for Capps Shoe Company.   She loved people, being outside, flowers, gardening and working at Capps Shoe Company.

She is survived by her significant other, Lyn Smith of Gretna; one sister, Junetta Springs and husband, Worth of Bunn, NC; one brother, Gerald Edwards of Beaverton, OR; four nephews and one niece, Craig Edwards, Kirk Edwards and wife, Christina, Chris Edwards and wife, Sarah, Sara Edwards and Wesley Springs; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2024 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 28, 2024 at St. Andrews United Methodist Church.
