Gretna.…..Joyce Simpson Mayhew, age 84 of Gretna died Thursday, August 16, 2018 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born December 19, 1933 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late James Andrew Simpson and Olive Mayhew Simpson.  She was also predeceased by two brothers, Billy Simpson and Tommy Simpson.  Mrs. Mayhew was a member of Greenfield Baptist Church and was a home maker.  She enjoyed sewing, gardening, doing work around the house and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Reed Mayhew of the residence; two sons, Mark Mayhew and wife, Ellen of Gretna and Alan Mayhew and wife, Kim of Gretna; one daughter, Ellen Prato and husband, Tom of Bassett; one sister, Patricia Beck and husband, Harold of Danville; six grandchildren, Jennifer Prato Judy and husband, Patrick, Allison Prato, Phillip Mayhew, Amanda Mayhew, Michael Mayhew and Cassidy Mayhew; and two great-grandchildren, Thomas Judy and Riley Judy.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 19, 2018 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
