Gretna……Joyce Steele Layne McDaniel, age 80 of Gretna, died Friday, December 17, 2022 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born June 22, 1942 in Campbell County, she was a daughter of the late Paul Terrell Steele and Thelma Grishaw Woodson.  She was predeceased by one son, Bruce Layne; and the father of her children, Willie Thornton Layne, Jr.  Mrs. McDaniel enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family.

She is survived by her husband, George Wiley McDaniel of Gretna; one son, Timothy Layne of Rustburg; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 22, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Lynn Marstin.
