Chatham…….Joyce Motley Hamner, age 78 of Chatham died Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born December 18, 1943 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Rawley Douglas "R.D." Motely and Lottie Compton Motley.  She was predeceased by her husband, James "Jim" Hamner, Jr.  Mrs. Hamner was a member of Sheva Church of Christ.  She graduated from Chatham High School and was a legal secretary.  She enjoyed reading, walking, yard work and flowers.

She is survived by her mother-in-law, Nancy Hamner Motley of Chatham; and numerous cousins.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Larry Owen, Minister and Ron Voss, Minister.  Burial will follow in Sheva Church of Christ Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Sheva Church of Christ Cemetery Fund or to the charity of your choice.
