Gretna……….Marie Joyce Worley Blevins, age 83 of Gretna died Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Danville Regional Medical Center.
Born February 26, 1934 in Pittsylvania County she was a daughter of the late Dock C. Worley and Nettie Shelton Worley. She was predeceased by two sons, William Simpson and Robert Simpson; one grandson, Jerry Simpson; two brothers, Bobby Worley and Calvin "Bill" Worley; and four sisters, Ruby Gunn, Elnora Pickeral, Evelyn "Toot" Doss and Myrtle Davis. She enjoyed being outdoors, reading, bird and animal watching, drawing, painting, pictures and children.
She is survived by three sons, Daniel Simpson of Gretna, Gerald Simpson and wife, Pam of Altavista and Steven Simpson and wife, Cindy of Gretna; one daughter, Brenda Rowland and husband, "Fuzzy" of Gretna; one brother, Jack Worley and wife Wanda of Carlisle, PA; two sisters, Virginia Doss of Gretna and Nancy Bryant and husband, Randolph of Gretna; six grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Gretna Burial Park by Rev. Mike Allen.
The family will receive friends at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Steven and Cindy Simpson, 1001 Azalea Drive, Gretna.
