Josie Motley Short

Hurt.......... Josie Motley Short, age 92 of Hurt died Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Gretna Health & Rehabilitation Center.
Born February 23, 1918, in Danville, she was a daughter of the late Gus Motley and Nannie Pierce Motley. She was predeceased by her husband Parker (Putt) Short, and a sister, Edna Haegan. Mrs. Short was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, and was a retired employee with Klopman. She enjoyed bowling, and working outside in her flower garden.
She is survived by one son Paul Short and his wife Carolyn of Hurt, one daughter Elma Shelton of Loris, SC, one sister Dorene Haynes of Graham, NC; five grandchildren Denise Godfrey, David Short, Philip Short, Deborah Johnson and Phyllis East; numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 8, 2010 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by the Rev. Dr. Lynn Marstin. Interment will follow in the Short Family Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Carolyn Short, 3156 Roark Mill Road, Hurt, Va.
