Gretna…..Joseph "J.W." William Bennett, age 64 of 5704 West Gretna Road, Gretna died Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Virginia Baptist Hospital in Lynchburg.
Born February 2, 1950 in Pittsylvania County he was the son of the late Joseph Garry Bennett and Elizabeth Parker Bennett. He was predeceased by his wife, Deloris Davidson Bennett and a daughter, Anita Irene Bennett. Mr. Bennett was a member at Hollywood Baptist Church. He was a farmer and a former employee of Klopman Mills for 38 years. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting, horses and spending time with friends, family, and his grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, Todd Bennett and his wife, Crystal of Sandy Level and Dale Bennett and his fiancée, Crystal Mullins of Gretna; one sister, Martha Raye Blair of Wirtz; five grandchildren, Lane, Marissa, Devin, Ethan, and Lexi; and two step-grandchildren, Matthew Hearn and Miranda Hearn.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Sunday, June 22, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Leo Johnson. Burial will follow in the Franklin Memorial Park in Rocky Mount.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Saturday, June 21, 2014 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his son and daughter-in-law, Todd and Crystal Bennett, 730 Rockcreek Road, Sandy Level, VA 24161.
