Gretna…….Joseph Henry Andrews, age 91 of Gretna died Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Gretna Health & Rehab Center.
Born November 5, 1924 in Pittsylvania County he was a son of the late John Mark Andrews and Mattie Kate Reynolds Andrews. Mr. Andrews was predeceased by his wife, Cora Hardy Andrews; a sister, Anna Meadows and two brothers, Cedric Andrews and Bill Andrews. He was a retired employee of the Lane Company and was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Andrews was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board. He was a member of American Legion Post 232 and the United Methodist Men
He is survived by four daughters, Peggy Altice and husband, Greg of Knightdale, NC, Kay Thompson and husband, Mike of Axton, Vicki Barilla and husband, Al of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, and Linda Sutherlin and husband, David of Hurt; two brothers, Herman Andrews of Hurt and Jackie Andrews and wife, Brenda of Gretna; two sisters, Minnie Parker and husband, Dewey of Gretna and Arlene Bowling of Gretna; three grandchildren, Susan Nichols and husband, Bobby, Joey Sutherlin and wife, Amanda and Hannah Altice; two great-grandchildren, Cole Sutherlin and Ava Sutherlin.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 at Zion United Methodist Church by Pastor David Edinger. Burial will follow in the Andrews Family Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and American Legion Gretna Post 232.
The family will receive friends 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service Friday in the church fellowship hall.
