Hurt………Jordan Carroll Moorefield, age 83 of Hurt died Saturday, November 6, 2021 at his residence.

Born April 18, 1938 in Halifax County, he was a son of the late Elwood E. Moorefield, Sr. and Estelle Francis Moorefield.  He was predeceased by a son, Ricky D. Moorefield; one grandson, Kendall Ray Moorefield; four brothers, Elwood E. Moorefield, Jr., Larry F. Moorefield, James R. Moorefield and Danny K. Moorefield; and one sister, Geroline Jennings.  He was a retired manager with A.O. Smith.  Mr. Moorefield was a longtime active member of New Prospect Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Secretary and was on the Board of Directors.  He was an Army Veteran and a member of Masonic Campbell Lodge 316 A.F. & A.M.  Jordan enjoyed mowing grass and hosting his friends and family for meals in his shop.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan Pugh Moorefield of the residence; one son, Michael C. Moorefield and wife, Pamala of Hurt; one brother, Ronald Moorefield of Forest; one daughter-in-law, Ellen Oakes Moorefield of Hurt; four grandchildren, Daniel K. Moorefield of Hurt, Paige M. Harris and husband, Michael of Bedford, Mason L. Moorefield of Hurt, Ellery T. Moorefield of Hurt; one great-granddaughter, Allie Ramona Harris; and one great-granddaughter on the way.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at New Prospect Baptist Church by Rev. Brady Willis.  Burial with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232 will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 9, 2021 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hurt Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 727, Hurt, VA 24563 or to New Prospect Baptist Church, P. O. Box 547, Hurt, VA 24563.
