Gretna……Johny Treadway Rorer, Sr, age 87 of Gretna died Tuesday, August 23, 2022 at Centra Lynchburg General Hospital.

Born May 20, 1935 in Pittsylvania County, he was a son of the late Ivory Toy Rorer and Janie Brooks Rorer.  He was predeceased by one son, Billy Joe "B.J." Rorer; one brother, Russell Rorer; and one sister, Ruby Jean Dillard.  Mr. Rorer was a U.S. Army Veteran and a paratrooper in the Korean Conflict.  He was of the Baptist Faith, and he retired from Goodyear.  He enjoyed fishing, working on his farm, spending time with his grandchildren; and he loved sports, especially the Virginia Cavaliers.

He is survived by his wife, Debra Ann Wheeler Rorer of the residence; one son, Johny Treadway Rorer, Jr. of Chatham; two daughters, Sharon Lynne Rorer of Chatham, and Patricia Cox of Chatham; two step-sons, Bubba Auvil and wife, Missy of Mississippi, and Bart Auvil and wife of Florida; four sisters, Connie Austin of Lynchburg, Dot Mitchell of Altavista, Jeanette Locklear and husband, Buddy of North Carolina, and Barbara McDonald of Danville; six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor Matt Gaston.  Entombment will follow in Altavista Memorial Park with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 26, 2022 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence.
