Gretna…….John Gardner "Johnny" Adams, II, age 66 of Gretna died Monday, September 7, 2020 at his residence.

Born July 13, 1954 in Bethesda, MD, he was a son of Joyce Holcombe Adams of Gretna and the late John Daniel Adams.  He was predeceased by one brother, Richard Adams; and one sister, Debbie Moore.  Johnny was the owner/operator of  J & J Auto Sales and a former bus driver with the Pittsylvania County School System.  He was a lifetime member and 13-year captain of the Gretna Rescue Squad.  He was also a member of the Gretna Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Masons, Anderson Lodge 258 A.F. & A.M.  He loved helping people, serving his community, and spending time with his beloved boxer, Zeva.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Stacy Gibson Adams of the residence; one son Jaime Adams and wife, Mary of Amelia County; one step-son, Justin Ramsey of Gretna; one step-daughter, Kelsey Ramsey of Gretna; one brother, Leroy Adams and wife, Ellen of South Carolina; two sisters, Tina Strauss and husband, Charlie of Chatham, and Marilyn Worsham and husband, Kenny of Gretna; five grandchildren, Kameron Adams, Jordan Adams, Brendan Adams, Maddox Elington, and Ava Elington; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Kenneth and Shirley Gibson; one aunt, Carolyn Adams; three uncles, Otis Adams, Richard Adams, and Harvey Holcombe; numerous nieces and nephews; and caregivers, Terri Dalton, Tori Anderson, and Perniece White.

Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 11, 2020 at Greenfield Baptist Church by Rev. R.G. Rowland.  Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Alzheimer's and Dementia Research, 225 N. Michigan Avenue, Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 or go to act.alz.org to donate.
