Gretna……….John Sanford Rowland, age 62 of Gretna died Saturday, March 6, 2021 at his residence.

Born November 6, 1958 in Pittsylvania Co., he was son of the late Ruben Rowland and Delma Faris Rowland. Mr. Rowland worked in the sporting goods department at Walmart for many years and enjoyed tinkering with things, especially his little S-10 truck. He was a NASCAR fan, especially Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and loved being outdoors and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Byrd Rowland of the residence; one daughter; Kristy Rowland of Altavista; one son, Josh Rowland and wife, Megan of Gretna; one brother, James Rowland of Gretna; two sisters, Becky Bundy of Gretna and Susan Grundman and husband, Roger of Gretna; five grandchildren, Bradley Rowland, Ella Rowland, Ashlen Harris, Ian Norcutt and Eli Bond; two great-grandchildren, Brinley Norcutt and Addilyn Cook; and four nieces, Reanne, Rachael, Gina and Nicole.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at the Rowland Family Cemetery by Rev. R.G. Rowland.
