Gretna……Johnnie Ray "John" Harless, age 70 of Gretna died Thursday, April 25, 2024 at Lewis Gale Medical Center in Salem.

Born May 19, 1953 in West Virginia, he was a son of the late James Monroe Harless and Frances Marie Bradley Harless.  He was predeceased by two brothers, David Harless and Terry Harless.  Mr. Harless was a U.S. Army Veteran and retired maintenance foreman with L.C. Trucking.  He enjoyed gathering with friends and family.  He also had great pride and love for all his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Segunda "Cindy" Harless whom he loved dearly of the residence; one son, Alan Harless and wife, Lauren of Danville; one daughter, Cynthia Warren of Midlothian; his twin sister, Brenda Baldwin and husband, Robert of West Virginia, two additional sisters, Deanna Sammons and husband, Dick of West Virginia, and Shelia Richardson of West Virginia; and six grandchildren, Gavin Harless, Aidan Harless, Kamryn Harless, Peyton Warren, Colton Warren, and Jackson Neighbors.

Memorial services will be conducted at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial donations be made to the National Center for Healthy Veterans, P.O. Box 74, Altavista, VA 24517.
