John Asa Hall passed away on December 30, 2023, at the age of eighty years old. He was born on July 19, 1943, in Hurt, Virginia to his loving parents, Mazie Blanks Hall and Asa Tyndall Hall. He married Carolyn Farris Hall in 1972. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn, his daughter, Amber Hutcherson and her husband Charles, and his grandsons, Charles David Hutcherson III, and John Asa Hutcherson.

He is also survived by his sister, Nanette Sweet and her husband Chris, brother, Tommy Hall and his wife Pam, brother in law, Dave Cox, sister in law, Janet Hall, as well as his nephews and nieces, Joel Burch and his wife Jeanne, Holly Burch, Jon Sweet and his wife Nadine, Zac Sweet, Julie Hall, Adrienne McLeod and her husband Morgan, and Justin Cox.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Autie Hall Burch Lloyd and Jerry Hall Cox, brother, George Hall, and his nephew, Jeff Burch.  He also leaves behind many other special family members and friends.

John loves to help others and to be actively engaged in a good cause. Family and friends are especially important to him. He enjoys the outdoors, fishing, boating, farming, and of course, good food. He liked being physically active whether it was running, playing sports, or doing things outside. He didn't shy away from an adventure or from figuring out how to fix anything that wasn't working properly. He was a manufacturing engineer.

He worked for 39 years at BWX Technologies and valued building relationships with his co-workers, problem solving together with them, and getting the job done well. He earned his engineering degree from Virginia State University while working full time. He is smart, loyal, loving, giving, and has quite a bit of grit. His influence and memories will live on.

John is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he enjoyed volunteering his time in service and leadership roles and learning of Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father.  These words give us joy today, "Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest." Joshua 1:9
