Hurt……….John Wayne Gregory, age 63 of Hurt died Saturday, March 9, 2013.
Born December 10, 1949 in Lynchburg he was a son of the late John Averett Gregory and Ruby High Gregory. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Mr. Gregory was a member of Altavista Moose Lodge #1433, a member of Gretna Rescue Squad, and a bus driver for Pittsylvania County Schools. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, his dogs, auctioneering, flat foot dancing, and spending time with the kids when he drove the bus.
He is survived by one son, Jason Grubbs and his wife, Crystal of Gretna; three daughters, Brenda W. Grubbs of Hurt, Lesia Betterton and her husband, Joey of Gretna, and Mary Ann Gregory of Gretna; two sisters, Darlene Owens and husband, Sam of Gretna, and Kathy Bates and fiance, James Waller of Hurt; 8 grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Rev. Ryan Patterson, and Pastor Scott Dean. Burial will follow in Gretna Burial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 P.M. Monday, March 11, 2013 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home, and other times will be at the residence of his sister, Kathy Bates, 1704 Wards Road, Hurt.
