Gretna……….John Richard Creasy, age 81 of Gretna died Monday, September 10, 2018 at Carriage Hill Retirement in Bedford

Born June 30, 1937 in Lynchburg, he was a son of the late George Eldridge Creasy, Sr. and Mamie Pugh Creasy.  He was also predeceased by a daughter, Wanda Creasy; and a sister, Violet Ellington.  Mr. Creasy was of the Baptist faith and was a U.S. Navy veteran.  He enjoyed deep sea fishing, carpentry, and wood working; and could play many instruments including the piano, guitar and harmonica.

He is survived two daughters, Janet Baker and husband, Alex of Amherst and Sandi Meadows and husband, Tim of Gretna; one brother, George Creasy of Madison Heights; two sisters, Helen Whitehead of Madison Heights and Marie Moore and husband, Jimmy of Lynchburg; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery in Amherst by Pastor Arnold Bradley with Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence of his daughter and son-in-law, Sandi and Tim Meadows, 1015 Upper Mountain Road, Gretna.
