Hurt………John Walker Burnette, Sr., age 70 of Hurt, died Thursday, October 21, 2021 at Autumn Care of Altavista.

Born September 17, 1951 in Maryland, he was a son of the late Willie Christopher Burnette and Virginia Stevens Burnette.  He was predeceased by two brothers, C.D. Burnette and Leon Burnette; and one sister, Peggy Byrd.  Mr. Burnette was an Army Veteran and a carpenter.  He enjoyed fishing, camping, reading, and watching football.

He is survived by two daughters, Jessica Andrews and husband, Rev. Jason Andrews of Gretna, and Brandi Burnette of Gretna; one son, John Burnette, Jr. of Gretna; two sisters, Brenda Winn of Hurt, and Nancy Blanks of Huddleston; and ten grandchildren.

Memorial services will be conducted 4:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2021 at Summersett Baptist Church by Rev. Jason Andrews.
