Obituary

Chatham…….Johel Elizabeth Carstarphen, age 75 of Chatham, died Thursday, March 14, 2019 at her residence.

Born April 9, 1943 in Savannah, GA, she was a daughter of the late John Augustus Carstarphen, Jr. and Helen Lochte Carstarphen.  She was predeceased by a twin brother, John A. Carstarphen III.

Jo and her boys settled in the Chatham area in the late 1970's.  Before retirement Jo served as a professional nurse at Hargrave Military Academy and Danville Medical Center.  Additionally, she served on the Chatham Rescue Squad, and after retirement Jo taught Paramedics at the Patrick Henry Community College.  She was active in her church and participated in multiple volunteer activities.  She was special to all who met her and we are so fortunate to have had her in our lives.

She is survived by two sons, Matt Peacock and wife, Robyn of Atlanta, GA, and David Peacock and wife, Sarah of Fort Collins, CO; two sisters, Ann Yeager and husband, Joe of Roseland, and Janet Skeels and husband, Bob of Jacksonville, FL; seven grandsons, Rylan, Owen, Quinn, Sutton, Jacob, Dylan, and Saben Peacock; and a great-granddaughter, Lily Peacock.

Services will be held the first week of April.

Jo's family wants to thank the Chatham area community for all their love and support. She will be missed. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations to St. Jude or Happy Tails via the Cherrystone Animal Clinic.
