Madison Heights………Joseph Franklin "Joe" Roakes, age 90 of Madison Heights died Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at Gretna Health and Rehab Center.

Born March 31, 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was a son of the late Mitchel Roakes and Mary Frances Pettyjohn.  He was predeceased by a son, Michael "Mike" Roakes.  Mr. Roakes was an Army Veteran and a truck driver.  He loved his dogs and being outside.

He is survived by two granddaughters, Jana Gibby and Beth Roakes; and four great-grandchildren, Matthew Gibby, Amelia Gibby, Brooklynn Richey, and Bexley Richey.

Graveside services will be conducted 10:00 a.m. Friday, December 31, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Evington Cemetery by Pastor David Place.  Military Honors by American Legion Altavista Post 36 and Gretna Post 232.
