Penhook…..Joanne Louise Golden Jones Stokes, age 68 of Penhook, formerly of Northern Virginia died Wednesday, February 18, 2015 at her residence.
Born April 10, 1946 in Wilmington, DE she was a daughter of the late Joseph Golden and Helen Cleaves Golden. She was predeceased by one brother, J. Ronald Golden. Mrs. Stokes was a graduate of the Albert Einstein School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in Delaware and Virginia. She enjoyed golf, gardening, traveling, and entertaining her family and friends.
She is survived by her husband, Sam Stokes of the residence; one son, James M. Jones and wife, Tara of Arlington; two daughters Holly A. Jones Hirst and husband, Jonathan of Boston, and Allison C. Stokes of Portland, OR; one sister, Patricia Lea Schneider and husband, John of Lewes, DE; one brother, Thomas Golden and wife, Susan of CA; and three grandchildren, Joseph Hirst, Mary Margaret Hirst, and Kai Jones.
Following her request there will be no public service.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Medi Home Health Hospice, 5369 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019; and as you are working in your garden to plant something in her memory.
