Gretna……..Joanne Pierce Dalton, age 82 of Gretna, died Wednesday, November 8, 2023 at her residence.

Born May 6, 1941 in Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late  Frank Edgar Pierce and Mary Elizabeth Pruitt Pierce.  She was predeceased by her husband, James G. Dalton; and one sister, Janet Adkins. Mrs. Dalton was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church, and she was a homemaker. She enjoyed hummingbirds, going to Virginia Beach to see dolphins, and spending time with her family.

She is survived by one son, Jeff Dalton and wife, Tanya of Gretna; one daughter, Jackie Satterfield and husband, Steve of Gretna; two brothers, Ralph Pierce of Chatham, and Sammy Pierce of Chatham; six sisters, Mildred Betterton of Chatham, Sarah Adkins of Chatham, Sue Moser of Chatham, Linda Jean Davis of Chatham, Jewel Adkins of Chatham, and Anna Sours of Gretna; three grandchildren, Christy Gould and husband, Gary, Jarett Dalton and wife, Jess, and Donna Gellert and husband, John; and ten great-grandchildren, Jade, Bianca, Brianna, Christian, Anthony, Alyssa, Andrew, Mikee, Jordan, and Sydney.

Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Chapel by Pastor W.L. Pillow. Burial will follow in Carl O. Moran Memorial Garden.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, November 10, 2023 at Colbert-Moran Funeral Home and other times will be at the residence, 580 Glenland Rd. Gretna.
