Gretna……..JoAnn Taylor Farmer, age 56 of Gretna died Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at her residence.

Born February 18, 1964 Pittsylvania County, she was a daughter of the late Willie Vaden Taylor and Catherine Dowdy Taylor.  She was predeceased by her biological mother, Mary Taylor Shelton and her husband, Oma Shelton.  Mrs. Farmer was a former employee of Capps Shoe Company; and she enjoyed listening to music, having a good time, playing cards and Yahtzee, spending time with her family and friends, and being with her dog "Lucy Mae."

She is survived by one son, Jessie Farmer and special friend, Tyonna of Altavista; two brothers, Michael Taylor and wife, Linda of Hurt, and David Shelton and wife Dawn of Mt. Airy; three sisters, Kathy Mullins of Gretna, Patsy Saunders of Chatham, and Ann Taylor and husband, Ronnie of Gretna; a special niece, Katie Updike and husband, Norman of Gretna; many nieces and nephews; and Trey Crews, Michael Cash, and Casey King who she thought of as her boys.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Saturday, September 19, 2020 at the residence of her niece, Katie Updike and other times will be at the residence.
